Move Roms to another folder while keeping scrapes info and images
ARRM allows Roms to be copied or moved to a subfolder on the same system or to another system's root folder while retaining scrapes information and associated images. (merge data with the destination system's gamelist.xml, and update the source system's gamelist.xml)
Copying or moving ROMs to another system can only be done to the root of that destination system
On the other hand, moving ROMs in the same system can be done in a subfolder of this system
On the other hand, moving ROMs in the same system can be done in a subfolder of this system
- In move mode:
- if the destination folder is a subfolder of the same system, the ROM will be moved, and the gamelist will be updated with the new location of the ROM. Remember to save the gamelist at the end of the operation
- If the destination folder is at the root of a system folder, the ROM and associated media will be moved and the gamelist of the destination system will be updated
- In copy mode:
- if the destination folder is a subfolder of the same system, the ROM will be copied into this subfolder and the gamelist will be updated with the new location of the rom
- if the destination folder is at the root of a system folder, the ROM and associated media will be copied to this folder and the gamelist of the destination system will be updated“
Note
ROM tree is not preserved when copying or moving.
Example: if you move or copy the ROM: ./konami/gberet.zip, only gberet.zip will be copied without creating the konami subfolder
Here's how:
- As a precaution save the gamelists.xml of the affected systems.
- Select the system (only one) then click on Display
- When the Database is filled with the found Roms,
- Select the Roms you want to move
- Click on the 'Move to folder'' button of the 'Possible actions on the selected ROMs' panel
- A popup appears asking you to choose the destination folder, then click on 'OK'.
- Validate the movement confirmation popup.
- Save the current gamelist.xml (because Roms have been moved)
- You can check that the operation worked well by loading the ROMs of the destination system.
The file name and directory name must be less than 260 characters, otherwise an error occurs when moving.
However, you can remove this limitation from windows by modifying the registry.
