Rename Arcade Game Titles
Available since 1.9.0.2 beta 15
You must have Arcade Roms whose filename meets the standard Arcade file naming format:
19xx.zip
19xxa.zip
airattck.zip
dkongjr.zip
…
Why use this feature?
You can use the
Rename game titles with the help of Datfiles functionality, but this uses CRC / MD5, and the processing is much longer (CRC / MD5 calculation). For Arcade ROMs, you can use one of the 3 methods presented here, I advise you to use the 3rd method
When you scrape an Arcade ROM, the name returned by the scrape site does not necessarily refer to Arcade clones.
You want to distinguish between clone Roms and non-clone Roms by keeping the original name (the one contained in the Datfiles.
In summary, you currently have this:
and you want to get this:
Remember to check if your arcade systems are present in the %appdata%\Nexouille soft\arrm\database\arcade_systems_list.txt file editable via the Tools tab. Restart ARRM when you modify this file to take effect.
Warning, the renaming is not 100% reliable, sometimes the names found are not the correct ones
3 methods are possible:
1 - Before scraping the Roms (no gamelist.xml)
You have not yet scraped your Roms and you do not yet have a gamelist.xml?
Then you just have to
Your ROMs names should look like this, because ARRM retrieves Arcade names from its database by their file names.
Uncheck the Clean name checkbox in the Scrape Options tab.
Uncheck the Add language checkbox in the Scrape Options tab.
Uncheck the Add Country checkbox in the Scrape Options tab.
When loading the system, ARRM retrieves Arcade names from its database by their filenames.
2 - The Roms have already been scraped (existing gamelist.xml)
You have already scraped your Roms or you have loaded an existing gamelist.xml containing the names of the scrapped Roms and the game name of your arcade ROMs look like this:
Uncheck the Clean name checkbox in the Scrape Options tab.
Uncheck the Add language checkbox in the Scrape Options tab.
Uncheck the Add Country checkbox in the Scrape Options tab.
Select the Roms for which you want to change the name.
In the 'Replacements' tab, select DB fields: Game Title
ARRM will then search its database for the original name of the game by its file name, and you will get this:
3 - Easiest way (available since 1.9.1.2 beta 3)
In the Scrape Options tab, check or uncheck this checkboxes : Clean name , Add language , Add Country
ARRM will then search its Arcade database for the original name of the game by its file name, and you will get this:
In this example, the Clean Name option is unchecked
