Creating MAME Layout Files (.lay) to Display Overlays

Check the Overlays and Layout boxes in the Settings tab, Image Options

You can place your own overlays in the share\Overlays_priority folder (it must have the same name as the ROM file without the extension)

There are two methods to generate the layout files (.lay) for the selected ROMs:

Scrape using Screenscraper
Generate these files via the Overlays priority button in the Selected ROMs panel

Zip files containing the layout file (romfilename.lay) and the overlay (romfilename.png) will be generated in the folder:

%appdata%\Nexouille Soft\arrm\ressources\overlays\layout_generator\%system%

%system% corresponds to the scraped system.

Example: %appdata%\Nexouille Soft\arrm\ressources\overlays\layout_generator\mame

You must copy these files to the directory of your choice. For example, on Retrobat, they should be copied to: \retrobat\saves\mame\artwork
